Male Back Waxing Aftercare

Back waxing aftercare advice is so important, as this male grooming treatment is without a doubt the most popular male body waxing treatment.

For most guys the treatment is very quick and easy with no or very little reaction on the skin afterwards, but for virgin waxers and for clients waxing during the summer it often needs a little more care and attention to get the best from your waxing treatment and to. So rain your skin.

So it is worth bearing in mind what simple waxing aftercare steps you should give to your clients to follow , to keep everything in order.

These are the basic guidelines I give to clients and it does make a huge difference....

1. Keep the back clean, sweat free and as cool as possible after your back wax treatment: so avoid excercise/ gyms/ sauna and any heat treatments, ie sunbeds etc

2. Wear a clean cotton loose fitting t shirt after your back wax: bring a clean one with you to change into after your waxing it keeps skin clean and bacteria free.

3. Avoid gym, exercise, swimming or sports for 24-48 hours: Freshly waxed skin has open pores which are more more prone to bacteria and infection.

4. Use a cleansing shower/skin wash that contains some anti bacterial properties: we retail some but we happily recommend high street options that may be more affordable.

5. Use a suitable moisturiser for the areas that you can reach: not always easy to reach all of your back but great for shoulders and the hairline which often react more more and will benefit from some moisturiser. Products containing soothing gels etc  is often one  of the best products to apply to sensitive skin and will really help to settle it just after waxing, we apply a refreshing gel after chest waxing and all our intimate waxing treatments.

5. After a few days start to gently exfoliate the skin using an exfoliating wash cloth: GENTLE is the key word!!.. Keep it gentle and 2/3 times a week, NOT every day!

Interesting Facts about Dead Sea Salt

Interesting Facts about Dead Sea Salt

The Dead Sea has a long and amazing history. In fact, this body of water has been around for about three million years. That is a long time for many minerals and other potent, health inducing ingredients to become a part of this water. Learning more about the benefits of Dead Sea salt is important and allows you greater chances of being healthier and younger looking.

Salts for bathing are sold all around the world. Making the right choices for a brand is essential to you getting the real benefits of this famous sea. Many brands are no more than table salt and produce no benefits. Learning more about the source of your salts is necessary for gaining its benefits. Bear in mind that Dead Sea salt is bitterer than regular table salt.

The mineral content in real sea salts provides many benefits, especially when it comes to looking younger. In fact, in ancient times, Cleopatra took special interest in the area surrounding this body of water. She had cosmetic factories built along the shores to make sure the ingredients being used were from the real water. Millions of people have visited this water for soaking and retaining the minerals through the pores of the skin.

One mineral that helps improve the skin you will find in this famous body of water is magnesium. Magnesium increases the time it takes for skin tissue to heal. The surface of the skin is provided with anti allergic elements as well from magnesium. The process of cell metabolism is also related to magnesium. The younger healthy skin you want is easier to have when you provide the right ingredients for it to function properly.

Potassium and bromide are two more minerals your skin requires to be its best. Bromide works to relax muscular tissue and calms down nerves while potassium is responsible for the fine balance of moisture being maintained in the skin cell structure. Potassium is the reason too much water is not retained in the cells as well. The nutrients the cells in your body require are essential and cells must have a constant level of moisture to maintain healthy functioning, allowing nutrient absorption to be the greatest.

You have most likely heard about the benefits of calcium. You should know that calcium is also required for cell membranes to have strength and durability. The cells in your body must have protective shells to resist disease and other issues that could affect them. Taking care of your skin with salts will promote the absorption of calcium. Your teeth and bones will also benefit greatly from this type of calcium absorption as well.

Several body functions depend on a healthy functioning thyroid gland. Your thyroid gland needs iodine in order to function in the healthiest manner. Choosing the right salts means you getting enough iodine for proper functioning to take place. You can also add iodine to your diet for increased benefits. The amount of sodium you need is necessary for nutrient retention in the cells.

Zinc and sulphur are more minerals that offer great benefits for your body. These minerals are also found in high content in the Dead Sea. Zinc protects the skin and provides an incredible boost for the immune system as well. Cell proliferation occurs properly when your body has the right levels of zinc. Sulphur helps your liver function properly in dispelling toxins from your system.

Relief for some conditions has been found by soaking in this body of water. Sufferers of arthritis should certainly consider the benefits of hot salts baths for pain relief. The treatment of several bone and muscle issues include hot bath with mineral salts added to the water for good reasons. The absorption of vital minerals is necessary for the ultimate and complete healing of damaged muscle tissue.

If your bones are not strong throughout young adulthood and into your forties, you could be looking at several breaks and fractions after you get into your late fifties. Taking care to provide the right amounts of calcium is essential to you maintaining strong bones. Soaking hot salts can allow you greater calcium absorption for stronger bones. This is the greatest reason you should make sure your brand of salts in genuine and that the ingredients do come from the actual Dead Sea.

Taking advantage of Dead Sea salts benefits is a good way to better health fast. Taking time to learn more about the minerals your body needs is also an important consideration. Research the way these salts can benefit your health.

The Truth about Male Intimate Waxing

The Truth about Male Intimate Waxing

Women used to be the primary market for waxing. However, recently more and more men are interested in getting male waxing treatments. Waxing for men is getting prominence because wax is more suitable for hard to remove male hairs. The beard is one facial hair that requires waxing. When a man waxes the beard, there is no unsightly stubble left behind. Typically there are two types of waxing that men avail of: general body waxing and male intimate waxing.

A general body wax treatment is when the person has the hair in the back, face and chest removed by the therapist. Intimate waxing is when hair removal is done on the genitals area particularly the pubic hair. When it comes to a male intimate wax treatment, there are certain issues associated with the procedure.

The new techniques and new generation non-strip waxes used for the treatment can help make the client feel comfortable and relaxed. It is not as painful as it used to be. And the results are quick. After it is done, hairs are effectively removed. It is easy to see the difference before and after the procedure.

Male intimate waxing involves removing hair in the genitals and private areas. This may include the butt, pubic area, shaft, scrotum, crack and perineum. To get the best results, it is important to wax when the hair has grown at least 0.25 inches long. The treatment removes the hair from the roots not just on the surface. This is why it takes longer for the hair to grow back compared to ordinary shaving. It usually takes up to 8 weeks for the hair to grow again.

During the eight weeks, the client does not need to do shaving or trimming at all. Also, once the hairs grow back, the texture is usually much finer than before. The skin where the hair is removed also appears smoother. The reason for this is that the wax removes not just the hair roots but the dead skin cells as well. And since the client is not using a razor blade to remove the hair, the chances of getting cuts or skin irritation are reduced considerably. This is why a lot of men prefer to get male waxing treatments nowadays.

As with all intimate wax treatments, it is important to remove all clothes so the therapist can reach the private parts easily. There are different male intimate wax styles that the client can choose from such as Hollywood style, Brazilian style and back-sac-crack (BSC) style. The most common treatment is the Brazilian style. This style requires removal of hair in the middle and butt but retain some on the pubic mound.

The male Hollywood waxing treatment is when the therapist removes all hair in the private parts including pubic triangle and the crease of leg. The back-sac-crack style, as the name implies, removes hair starting from the back, then the shaft, crack and butt. The choice of style depends on what the client prefers. Also many therapists have different names for the male intimate waxing treatments so it’s often best to check which treatment you require and confirm it’s the correct choice.

One particular issue involved with intimate male waxing procedure is when a client gets an erection in the middle of the treatment. This is a potentially embarrassing situation both for the client and the therapist. But seasoned therapists know for a fact that erection could likely occur during these intimate procedures. The reason for this is that erection is an adrenal response to physical touch. It is not exactly a sexual reaction but more of hyperactive adrenaline.

An experienced therapist recognizes that this is a possibility that could occur among male clients. Usually, the therapist would ignore the incident and continue with the treatment as if nothing is going on. The erection will go away in due time. The therapist does not get offended because they know that it is a normal male reaction. Also, it could be the excitement brought about by the experience which brought the reaction. The therapist training and confidence in handling such potentially embarrassing situation is the key to defuse the situation. The therapist should be professional enough to be able to work through the issue.

After the male waxing treatment, it is important for the client to wear clean loose clothing to prevent irritation. The skin is a little more sensitive after the procedure. The aftercare when the treatment is over require that the client refrain from taking hot baths or going into saunas and steam baths. Gently exfoliation of the skin with an exfoliating product three times a week during shower can also help prevent ingrown hairs. Using a skin moisturizer in the area can also keep the skin supple and the new hairs to grow normally.

Waxing Versus Sugaring For Male Grooming Treatments

Male hair removal methods have certainly evolved through the years. Gone are the days when men used a shaving blade to remove hair in different parts of their body. The advances in technology help male grooming become safer, healthier, faster and more convenient to do.

Men remove body hair for a variety of reasons. One is to improve their appearance. Women often do not like hairy men especially if a thick mane grows out of the chest or the back. Hairs coming out of the nostrils or a bushy monobrow are also very unattractive to look at. For men who are into sports such as swimming, getting pubic hair removed is almost a must since they look unsightly with Speedos and swimming trunks. Some men remove underarm hair for better grooming and to prevent body odour.

Male waxing and sugaring are two great examples of current male grooming techniques. These two hair removal methods have a number of similarities as well as differences when it comes to application. But they do serve the same purpose which is to get rid of unwanted man hair. An estimated third of the male population regularly do hair removal procedures in the back, chest, intimate areas, legs and other areas.

Waxing

Waxing for men, also called manscaping or more recently maxing, is a popular choice in salons or male grooming studios. Most men prefer to have a waxing treatment as opposed to some of the other temporary hair removal methods available because of the numerous advantages that waxing provides including:

Areas that have been waxed often remain hairless for at most eight weeks. The reason for this is because waxing removes hairs from the roots not just on the surface and for those clients who carry out regular body waxing benefit from a slower regrowth.

Smoother skin. Areas that are subjected to waxing often have smoother skin. The wax serves as natural exfoliant since it removes dead skin cells once the wax is removed. It not just uproots the hair but the dead cells on the skin too.

Softer hair. The hair that grows after waxing is usually much softer. Also, there are no signs of stubble after waxing unlike shaving.

Reduce skin irritation. Shaving may cause irritation to the skin especially if the blade touches sensitive parts. The person may have cuts and razor bumps from shaving. Not so with waxing.

Sugaring

Sugaring is another popular hair removal option. The sugaring mixture is made up of sugar, water and lemon juice. These ingredients are combined in a lukewarm temperature. They are then applied to the skin where unwanted hair grows. The technique originated in Egypt.

Sugaring for some male grooming clients offers the same benefits as listed above in terms of the appearance of the skin, the regrowth period and smoothness of the skin.

Some male clients are drawn towards sugaring as a suitable hair removal method if they have heat sensitive skin or react to the rosins found in a lot of waxes. However it is worth remembering that a lot of the good wax companies often offer a range of products that are rosin free to offer these clients a more comfortable waxing treatment with less trauma and better results on the skin.

,Waxing and sugaring are similar processes but they do have differences in the application and results and clients should research the best options for themselves.

Both methods of hair removal use a similar process  ; strip waxing and strip sugaring – applying the product directly to the skin and then removing with a paper strip or a piece of fabric.  Non -strip waxing and hand sugaring – applying hot wax or sugar paste directly to the hair and removing without the need for any paper or fabric.

More often male clients can have strong coarse body hair and with the waxing method it can offer a better hair removal technique for various reasons; the  “ shrink wrapping “  effect of hot wax can encapsulate even the smallest of hairs to ensure a smooth hair free result,  something that hand sugaring often cannot achieve.  New generation non-strip / hot waxes can also be applied successfully to areas where hair grows in various directions, sugaring often does not achieve best results in these areas.

Degree of discomfort. Both procedures require hair removal from the roots. This means a certain degree of pain or discomfort in both methods, but it is worth stating that for most clients this discomfort is minimal and if these treatments are carried out by a professional trained male grooming therapist as opposed to friends or partners then the difference is remarkable!! You only need to look on YouTube to see those terrible home waxing videos...

Waxing and sugaring may not be a permanent solution to male hair removal but they do provide a viable option for male grooming. The long duration before hair grows back makes them a popular choice among male clients. Both procedures are effective hair removal solutions.

Hopefully a long hot summer is just around the corner and after that bleak winter it’s really great to see blue skies and feel the sun on your face again...

So guys it’s now time to start your male waxing maintenance programme so you are ready for those beach holidays and sunbathing sessions....

Regular waxing helps to keep the area hair free for longer, clean and smooth the best way to show off all your hard work at the gym - combined with your regime of exfoliation and moisturising you can have the perfect male torso for your holiday – smooth soft and hair free!

The most popular waxing treatment is always the male back wax with various options within that. However at this time of year I always see an increase in the number of chest waxing treatments, full body waxing treatments and men’s leg waxing treatments as we prepare to shed the winter wardrobe and get the shorts, t shirts and flip flops all dusted down!!

During the summer months it is much busier for waxing so I strongly recommend booking your appointment in advance to guarantee that you get an appointment time that suits you best. Often on a daily basis there are no available appointments and certainly all the peak appointment slots are generally all pre-booked (5.00pm-8.00pm) so call or email me to arrange your waxing appointment in preparation for your holiday. I do offer earlier appointments and I also have several late nights so that I can offer greater flexibility for my clients with appointment options.

For all my clients I have a range of really great waxing aftercare products to help maintain your freshly waxed skin and to keep the area smooth clean and looking great, these products include an excellent tea tree based skin wash, a tea tree body lotion and the Japanese style wash cloth – three essentials to offer you the best in male waxing aftercare.

Prices of all my retail products can be found at  www.malegroomingstudio.com  also check out my FAQ section which is really useful for virgin waxers and often answers all those questions you are not sure about.

Look forward to seeing you all soon...

The Benefits Of Tea Tree for Male Waxing Aftercare

The Benefits of Tea Tree for Male Waxing Aftercare

Tea Tree oil is taken from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia , which is native to the northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia.

Apparently it was first named Tea Tree by the expedition of Captain Cook, Banks and the Botanist Dr Solanger , who identified the Tea Tree plant and went on to name it when moored in Mercury Bay in 1769.

The oil has so many medical benefits when applied to the skin (topically), including antiseptic, antibacterial and antiviral actions. It is more commonly found as an essential oil, but we can also find creams, lotions, shampoo, and soaps that all contain Tea Tree.

As with most essential oils, Tea Tree oil should never be used directly on the skin, and needs to be diluted, and usually in fairly small percentages, when you purchase waxing aftercare products most will specify the percentage of tea tree included, and the range seems to be within 1-5% on average. If you do intend to make up your own blend to use at home be careful that you do not exceed these amounts, and as always test patch on a small area first...

With lots of the leading wax manufacturers now increasing their range of male waxing aftercare products more of them are producing products that include tea tree oils, and soothing gels like Aloe Vera with packaging and design aimed at the male consumer.

After waxing the skin has been exposed to heat, with the application of the warm wax, the hair follicles have been removed so the importance of an excellent hygienic and soothing aftercare system is very important, to keep skin clean, to soothe , settle, and to avoid breakouts and possible ingrown hairs.

For first time male waxing clients, who often have no knowledge of aftercare or which products will work better for them, then the therapists really need to explain the best products to achieve a good problem free aftercare regime, having some samples available is a great way to get your clients used to the product and to see the benefits for themselves, and include a sample in their aftercare pack.

Most male waxing clients prefer an aftercare range that does not include perfumes and floral notes so for that reason the tea tree product range is great, and offering maximum protection in those first few weeks while the skin settles and the new hair growth starts.

As well as the waxing aftercare, Tea Tree products used during the waxing treatment is also very common, skin cleansers and sanitisers containing Tea Tree are used a lot, and often at the end of the waxing the therapist will apply some soothing lotion to the skin, and these often also contain cooling gels and Tea Tree oil.

If you are a regular waxing client or if it’s your first time to have a waxing treatment your aftercare regime is always important (exfoliation and moisturising) so get some Tea Tree based products and use these as part of your pack and you will achieve great results - Smooth problem free skin....

The ideal male waxing aftercare product range should include ; Tea Tree skin wash/ shower gel, and a body lotion with Tea Tree, and a Japanese wash cloth, and your regime should give you great results, each and every time....

Male Brazilian Waxing- What's Included in Your Treatment

If it’s your first time to book a male intimate waxing treatment you probably will not know what to expect and exactly how the treatment will be carried out... So hopefully this will clarify the procedure for your first male Brazilian waxing treatment.

Consultation-

All new clients need to complete a client consultation form; this is a simple tick list, with a list of conditions that your therapist needs to know so that they discuss any issues that could affect your treatment or if there are conditions that are contraindicated.

Insurance companies require all therapists to complete these forms and to maintain their client records. This information is confidential.

At this stage the treatment protocol should be explained including what is required from the client in terms of which items of clothing to remove, how long the treatment will take and the types of waxes and method of waxing that will be used during the treatment.

The client should be left in the treatment room, for a few minutes alone to undress, and ideally will be given some intimate wipes, so that they can freshen up and feel more comfortable for the treatment.

The Treatment

To begin with, the therapist needs to ascertain exactly what the client does require in terms of the amount of hair removal.

Often clients book a back sack and crack wax, or a male Hollywood waxing... and it’s probably only a male Brazilian waxing they actually want, but with so many terms and names out there we often get confused with the waxing terms, and also different therapists use a variety of names for their treatments, so clarify before you begin.

A full male Brazilian wax treatment generally takes 30-40 minutes to complete.

Each therapist has their own style and techniques that they use for their male intimate waxing procedures. I was trained in the UK by the best trainers in the industry and developed my procedures to offer an excellent Brazilian waxing service.

The best waxing method for male intimate waxing treatments is non strip waxes, this is when a thick honey like wax is applied directly to the area with a disposable spatula, the wax sets firmly, and it is removed quickly and swiftly by lifting the end and pulling of the hardened strip of wax.

No paper strips are used in this method.

The benefit of using this wax method is that there is no pressure applied directly to the area with paper strips, the wax sets and as it sets it shrink wraps the hair follicle so once removed the hair is embedded in the wax strip.

For intimate and for sensitive areas this method of waxing is much better.

The steps for the male Brazilian waxing treatment are as follows:

1. Cleanse the area using a skin sanitiser

2. Apply a light depilatory oil to the area

3. Blot with a tissue to remove excess oil

4. Apply the non strip wax- allow to set

5. Remove wax- apply pressure

6. Check all hair is removed

7. Blending of hair in surrounding areas

8. Apply after waxing products

A full male Brazilian wax should be completed in 30-40 minutes.

Male Waxing Aftercare Guidelines

Most new clients know very little about maintenance and the best way that they can maintain their freshly waxed skin. The best time to discuss aftercare is during the treatment, as you have their full attention and they can clarify any issues they don’t understand.

At the end of the treatment you need to follow up the aftercare with written notes, which should outline the best practice guidelines so they are very clear.

An aftercare pack often helps your client to get started on their regime, and it helps them understand the process. Include some suitable aftercare cream/ gels that will help to soothe the skin for their first day or so, and a disposable exfoliating mitt helps get their exfoliation of to a great start, and also include your contact details if they need to contact you to discuss anything or to clarify the aftercare process.

If there are retail products that you can either recommend to your clients, or products they can directly purchase from you then offer these at the end of the treatment.

A Brazilian wax by any other name....

A Brazilian wax by any other name...

With men’s waxing treatment becoming more and more popular, its often confusing knowing exactly what each of the intimate waxing treatment includes, we read online blogs and articles, magazine reviews and male grooming publications with so many names for these waxing treatments.

With therapists up and down the country all offering their own treatment list and trying to provide their own unique bespoke range of male grooming therapies clients need to understand the difference in the treatments.

One Salons version of a BSC wax may be different to another one....
As therapists we all aim to design a list that offers our clients a selection of treatments to cater for the individual needs from a simple bikini /speedo wax to a full male Hollywood waxing, we know what each treatment entails but often our new clients don’t...
However treatments vary from therapist to therapist and as a client it’s necessary to be clear that you book the treatment you want and that you know the difference in the treatments.
Male intimate waxing treatments are often known by many names; Brazilian waxing, Sunga waxing, Boyzilian waxing, Manscaping, Guyzilian, Brozilian.... there are so many different names used for the waxing procedures, and with trends changing probably many more new names to follow...
As appointments are generally timed and therapists normally know how much time they will require to carry out the treatment that the client has requested, then it’s really important to book the right one, as it may not be possible to extend your appointment time if you booked the wrong waxing and more time is required but not available as your therapist may be fully booked.
As a therapist I offer a flexible tariff for all the more popular waxing treatments, as I believe this offers flexibility for clients, and will ensure that those clients that carry out regular waxing or those clients with partial hair growth pay the lower prices for their treatment.
My treatment list clearly states what’s included within each of the treatments, and this has proven beneficial especially for male intimate waxing treatments. Clients know exactly what area is included and what the treatment is called and how much it will cost, so there will be no nasty surprises when they go to pay.
My most popular male intimate waxing treatment is the Brazilian wax, and most men know this term and generally most of them know exactly what areas of hair removal are included within this treatment.
My website will shortly be updated (November 2010) and as part of the update all the intimate waxing treatments will all be coded so that clients booking a treatment from their workplace etc can be more discrete. Often clients calling from shared offices or from their mobile while they are on the move don’t want the people around them to know they want to mow their lawn!
