Male Face Waxing - from bushy brows to hairy ear lobes!

Male face waxing package....

Bushy brows , hair sprouting out of your nostrils and hairy ear lobes is not a good look for the summer and can add years to most men..!

As part of our male grooming service we offer lots of men's waxing treatment and within this we also have a face waxing package which will give you a groomed and tidy look whilst making you look more youthful and refreshed!

We only use Perron Rigot waxes and for all our facial waxing treatments we use a fairly new wax called Visage which is a wax designed for use in this area it is much more gentle on the skin but still  removes all the hairs.

If you have never had your nostrils waxes before you are probably thinking it will hurt like hell... You will be really surprised as it doesn't when it's waxed with a good quality non strip wax; a little blob of wax is scraped across the nostril (we never put wax up into the nostril) and as it sets it shrink wraps all the hairs that are at the base of the nostril and leaves you looking clean and tidy. If you ever tried to pluck individual nostril hairs it does hurt a lot  but waxing them like this doesn't! Most clients are really surprised...

Male brow waxing is becoming more popular but as part of the treatment we discuss your requirements before we start as most men prefer a more natural masculine style, buts it's your brows and your choice! ...

If you are not ready to try the whole face waxing package we do offer the choice of a free nostril or ear waxing treatment to all our new clients with your first waxing appointment.

Our face waxing makeover includes; brows, nostrils and ears and costs £ 25.00

The back sack and crack wax explained for a wax virgin!

The Back, Sack and Crack Explained For a Wax Virgin!

A lot of the time we get calls from people who have never waxed before and they would like to book in for a male intimate waxing treatment; male Brazilian wax, Hollywood wax or the classic back sack and crack and often have lots of questions to ask about treatment procedure , what they should do before the appointment and how to maintain the area afterwards.

Okay so if you are particularly hairy in and around the pubic area it would be much better if you trim before your appointment.  If you have trimmers then it's often easier to do this at home just trim the hair back no shorter than number four, this way you leave the hair long enough but you have to remove the excess. If you don't have trimmers or you prefer not to do this at home don't worry we can do this for you at the beginning of the treatment.

On arrival all new clients will be given a consultation form to complete. Please note this information is confidential and is required as part of our insurance. This information enables us to ensure that we are able to proceed as planned with your treatment and may identify any reason for us to perhaps adapt or adjust the way we carry out the treatment.

For the actual waxing treatment we will discuss with you before we begin exactly what you require. Often many clients get confused and think they want certain treatments and when we discuss with them what this involves it's often something else that they require so to avoid this confusion we have given all of our treatments their own individual names and each one of these has a clear description of what is included within each of these treatments on our website and we also confirm that this is what you require before we start to remove hair!

Arriving clean and fresh gets you off to a good start!... We do appreciate that people have to travel some distance often to get to us or that you may be coming straight from work so we will leave you alone in the room for a few moments with some wipes so that you can freshen up in preparation for your waxing treatment.

Before we start the waxing process we have to prepare your skin so as explained earlier long hair will be trimmed back. We use Perron Rigot wax and products for all our treatments and we follow the Perron Rigot method for all our treatments, so to start with we will use our cleansing lotion to clean your skin first and then after we have done this we will apply a little bit of jasmine oil. The oil creates a lipid barrier which will make your waxing treatments much more comfortable as the wax with not tug or pull on the skin when it's being removed.

Then on to the waxing...

With all our male intimate waxing treatments we use non strip waxes, often known as 'hot wax' this is a wax which is the consistency of  thick honey and is applied directly to the hair in the direction of growth and as it sets it shrink wraps the hair and is removed without the use of any paper strips so it's a quick and comfortable removal. The actual wax we use is called Homme which is a men's wax from Perron Rigot and this wax is used at a much lower temperature than some other wax brands so it's much more comfortable for these sensitive areas.

After we have remove all the wax from the areas we then apply a little  more jasmine oil which will remove any little bits of residual wax that may be left on the skin. We will use some cleansing lotion to remove all the excess oils you are not left with any oil on your skin which may go on to your clothing and then we can use either a refreshing gel or a moisturising milk to soothe the skin at the end of the treatment.

For most of our male intimate waxing treatments these take no longer than 30 minutes and for those clients to do regular waxing it's often much shorter. For new clients we factor in extra time is that've can complete the forms, discuss your treatment and agree your aftercare so just arrive at the agreed appointment time.

At the end of all our treatments we will discuss with you after care and this will include all the ways that you can maintain your skin to help to avoid any spots or ingrown hairs. We retail a range of suitable aftercare products from Perron Rigot and these include the hair minimising range which some clients find beneficial to reduce their hair regrowth in the pubic area and we also retail packs which are designed for those clients who do suffer from an ingrown hairs with products designed to target these.

For all our new clients we do give written after care guidelines which will reinforce what we have told you during your treatment and we also give all of our clients are free exfoliate wash cloth; www,abitifrough.com , these normally retail at £8 , but all our new clients as part of their welcome pack will receive one for free with all their body waxing treatments.

So there you go ... That's our back sack and crack treatment explained.

How much does a back sack and crack wax cost?

How much is a back sack and  crack wax?

It is quite interesting how different therapist/salons market and offer male intimate waxing treatments and most clients have their own impression of what is included within aback sack and crack wax....

As the client you need to research and check exactly what is included as often there may be a huge price difference from one salon to another and generally this may be because of what actually include it or not included within the treatment.

Traditionally a back sack and crack (BSC wax) only included the butt (inside and out) the penis and scrotum with as much or as little of the pubic hair removed. The 'back'part of the treatments generally referred to the small of the back not a full back and shoulder wax....

But more and more therapists offer their own treatments which include variations of the classic wax; some include a full back neck and shoulders and some include a basic back wax so for this reason it is always best to check with the therapist what is included so that you can compare like for like on price options.

We offer various selections of male intimate waxing treatment and these are designed for clients who generally like the combination of a male intimate wax with other body areas such as the chest and abs or the back and shoulders so our pricing structure and our menu of treatments include classic waxes such as a male Brazilian wax or male Hollywood and then packages such as the 'upper street'  or 'cross street'  which includes either a full back and shoulder  wax or a full chest and abs wax.

Male Back Waxing Prices

So with summer soon to become a distant memory it’s time to settle down and get ready for autumn to set in... But it’s still good to indulge yourself as part of your male grooming routine. Massage with warm oil blends, invigorating body scrubs, electric facial treatments and of course maintain your male waxing routine.

The most popular male waxing treatment has always been the men’s back wax. With regular waxing treatments the hair becomes weaker and sparse, any reactions on the skin following initial waxing treatments often disappear and the treatment becomes much quicker and much easier!

The male back waxing treatment with us is not just a quick “rub and rip” routine we offer a male waxing “treatment”!  Using Perron Rigot which is the best wax brand on the market including their pre and post waxing skincare products, excellent waxing training from the best in the business and great customer service we provide one of the best male waxing treatments in London.

Okay so here is our routine and the male back waxing options that are available here.

First the skin is cleansed and cooled with a suitable pre waxing cleansing lotion, then a little pre wax oil is applied to the skin; this creates a lipid barrier between the warm wax and the skin and results in a more gentle wax removal. We use a range of strip waxes including a hypoallergenic strip wax from Perron Rigot which is very gentle on even the most sensitive skin; this is applied directly on top of the hair and removed using paper strips. For areas like the neckline or if there are short stubbly hairs on the shoulders (from excessive shaving or trimming) we apply a non strip wax (thick wax the consistency of honey is applied and peeled of rather than using paper strips). Once all the hair has been removed we apply some more of the jasmine oil this will remove any little bits of residual wax and then some more of the cleansing lotion is used to remove the excess oil and to complete the waxing treatment we apply a little refreshing gel which is a soothing post wax gel which will make your skin settle down much quicker. Often we get clients that pop in at lunchtime or on their way to work so it’s important that your skin feels clean and comfortable if you have to dress in formal work wear so our male waxing treatments are all carried out in this manner.

In our experience one back waxing treatment does not suit all! We are all individuals and some clients want a very basic back wax whilst some want to include neck hair, shoulders front and back and in some cases even a half arm wax! Our back waxing treatments are fixed prices and we don’t charge extra for clients that have excessive hair growth (and believe me there are lots!!).

GB1 – Male Basic Back Wax £25

This back wax covers all of the back area but does not include the hair on the front of the shoulders, neck hair or any hair removal on the arms.

GB2 – Male Back and Shoulder Wax £30

This is our most popular back wax treatment. Includes all the back and with clients sitting up we wax the shoulders front and back , we also remove the hair on the top of the arms (cap t shirt length) and blend to create a natural finish.

GB3- Male Back, Neck and Shoulders £30

This waxing treatment is exactly the same as the GB2 and also includes the hair on the back hair which is removed and blended into your natural hair line.

GB4 – Back, neck, shoulder and half arm wax £40

The mother of all back waxing treatments!! This is the GB3 with the half arms (down to the elbows) being waxed. This is often the back wax that guys that are very hairy on the torso choose.

So this hopefully clarifies how we wax and what we include within each of these options. When new clients are looking for a waxing studio and are comparing treatment options always check what is included within your treatments. We find that these back waxing treatments make it easy for clients for clients to decide which option they prefer and what it will cost. Lots of other waxing salons price a back separate to the other areas like shoulders, half arms and the neck so check what you need waxed and  total the costs accordingly and then compare like for like!

After we have completed your waxing and before you leave we ensure that all new waxing clients get a free aftercare pack which includes written male waxing aftercare guidelines to take home and this includes an exfoliating mitt and a little refreshing gel to apply at home. Read our other blogs on male waxing aftercare advice.

Male Chest Waxing Advice

With the recent surge of warmer weather more and more guys are following the trend to wax their chests either as a pre holiday waxing treatment or as part of a regular male grooming regime and in the hope that even here in good old blighty they will get the opportunity to sunbathe!

We want to explain the chest waxing treatment, offer pre waxing advice and also aftercare guidelines and look at some of the best ways to avoid a break out...

Chest hair is generally fairly deep rooted hair, close to the heart so nice strong hair with a good rich blood supply!! Often chest waxing is seen as a more uncomfortable male waxing treatment as opposed to the back waxing or other male body waxing, but it can be fairly painless if it’s carried out properly.

It’s not uncommon for virgin waxers to have an initial reaction after their first chest wax, with small bumps and redness, this can be normal for a lot of guys who have never waxed before and generally within a few days the chest settles down again. I find that clients who take anti histamine on their way of their waxing and for a few days after seem to have very little reaction. We have a lot of clients who wax and most of these clients find that the anti histamine has helped but we always remind clients that they need to check that it’s okay for them to take anti histamine before they do as we only recommend these as a way of preventing the reaction on the skin.

We generally trim back body hair if it’s really long before I begin any waxing and then cleanse the skin before applying a small amount of pre waxing oil, the oil allows the wax to cling to the hair and not to the skin and this makes the hair removal so much more comfortable.

For most of our male chest waxing treatments we use two waxing methods, we apply non strip waxes on certain areas and then we also use strip waxes on other parts. We find that some areas can be more sensitive so the non strip waxes work better in those parts.  We do also offer a full chest and abs wax with non strip wax for the whole area as some clients prefer this method of waxing. Our waxing price list has all these treatments listed.

The strip wax used is Cristal Ocean by Perron Rigot this is a hypoallergenic wax so this will minimise the reaction on the skin. We do not use any roller waxing method for any of my waxing treatments as we find that it can drag on the hair and can be very uncomfortable for the client so I don’t use them.

At the end of the wax, after we have used Jasmine oil and cleansers, we then apply a suitable after waxing moisturiser to soothe the chest area.

As with all waxing procedures clients need to avoid touching the area and to keep the skin clean and cool. If clients are coming straight from work to their appointment it’s often best if they can bring a clean cotton loose fitting t-shirt to change into at the end of the treatment.

About Jack Dunn Male Grooming

Jack Dunn – Male Brazilian Waxing Expert - Islington London N1

A background in the luxury spa industry and a passion for innovation and discovery are the main factors which brought me to where I am today. With a thriving studio for men and a growing list of products and therapies, I have an overwhelming desire to provide for the needs of men in a world which was previously that of women only.

The fact is that men deserve to pamper themselves, look their best and feel the energy, creativity and confidence which comes from being well groomed. From my early days as a massage therapist and during my four years working in Crete at one of the top luxury spa's in the world, I knew that providing a similar experience for men only was where my true passions were. I decided that focusing primarily on male waxing was going to be my niche.

Building on my training with the ubiquitous Kim Lawless, I was able to use her unique male intimate waxing technique which works specifically for men and their needs. My expertise in male Brazilian waxing and  intimate waxing for men has set me apart from my peers. More specifically, I am an ambassador for Perron Rigot and I only use non-strip waxing methods with Perron Rigot, the best waxes on offer – this means less pain and a better outcome.  The other male grooming therapies I have on offer along with my colleagues at my Islington studio include massage, body scrubs and Manscaping (body hair trimming).

As someone with a true passion for my craft, I have also developed a range of wash cloths designed to exfoliate the body following wax treatments. These cloths can be found at www.abitofrough.com. This product compliments my main business and is hopefully just the start of the products I will have on offer in time.

I believe that men deserve the same access to spa treatments that women have been enjoying for many years. I provide the same luxury feel with attention to detail and an environment where men feel comfortable regardless of the treatment they are receiving. It is my mission to encourage today's men to look after their looks with a range of male grooming treatments and for this to become as much a part of their body routine as going to the gym.

Easy Nostril Waxing As Part of Your Male Grooming - Free for all new clients!

Nostril waxing for men is a very popular male grooming treatment and you will be surprised just how much hair that a little blob of wax can remove...

Often new clients think that it’s going to be a very painful procedure but it’s so much more comfortable than plucking a few nasal hairs with a pair of tweezers. If you tweeze one hair it’s really quite uncomfortable but when you wax and remove all these hairs in one go its fairly painless.

We apply a little drop of jasmine oil to the nostril this creates a lipid barrier to ensure the process is more comfortable then a small amount of non strip/ hot wax is applied to the base of the nostril and scraped across to create a little handle. As the wax sets we press your nostril together so that the wax grips all sides and all of the hairs are embedded in the wax.

Please note that we don’t push wax up into the nostrils or we don’t leave any spatulas inside the nostrils, the hairs up inside the nostril are there for a purpose and we are only removing the unsightly hairs at the base and not any of the other nostril hair.

We have a face waxing package that includes a nostril wax, ear waxing and a brow wax tidy up , this is a very popular male grooming treatment and it’s amazing how removing these hairs and tidying up bushy brows can take a few years off and leave you looking fresh and groomed!

As part of our new client package we offer the choice of a free nostril wax or an ear waxing treatment.

Give it a try you will be surprised how clean and tidy you feel afterwards and how easy it is to wax.

How Non Strip Wax Can Provide You With a More Comfortable Form of Hair Removal

Throughout recent years, an increasing number of men have become interested in keeping themselves well-groomed. While a lot of men still would never set foot inside a salon, "manscaping" (also known as the removal of male body hair) is gaining in popularity. While being a furry beast is still preferred by some men (and appreciated by some women), there's nothing wrong with wanting to be smooth all over.

Body hair, at one time, served a purpose; that purpose being to help the body retain heat. Men and women both develop body hair after puberty and this is completely natural. However, today it is no longer a necessary part of survival. Somewhere along the line, human beings began to be offended by unneeded hair growing upon their bodies. Fortunately for these people, there are some relatively simple and pain-free ways to remove it.

Shaving is one of the easiest ways to get rid of body hair. However, there are drawbacks. Stubble grows in quickly after shaving and there is also the threat of razor burn. There are many gadgets on the market to help people rid themselves of body hair, but one of the most sought after approaches is that of body waxing.

There are two basic kinds of waxes for hair removal. One is strip waxing; the other is non-strip (also known as hot-wax). Strip waxing is great at removing large patches of hair on larger parts of the body. With this method, a sticky warm wax is smeared on the area, a paper strip or muslin cloth is applied over it, and the hair is pulled out as the strip is quickly removed.

The non-strip approach is better for removing hair on sensitive parts of the body. There are no  paper strips or cloths applied over this wax; it forms its own strip. There was once a time when hot-wax had to be heated to temperatures that were almost unbearable to the skin. Today, however, this is no longer the case. What was once hot wax is now warm wax, making application much more comfortable.

If you have very course, short hairs, non-strip wax does a great job of grabbing a hold of them. When the wax dries on the body, it shrinks and encapsulates even the tiniest of hairs. It's not as messy as strip-wax, and the procedure for male grooming may end up taking less time. When it comes to pain, having hair yanked out is never comfortable, but many people feel that non-strip wax is more tolerable than strip wax on sensitive skin and therefore a much more suitable method for male intimate waxing treatments.

A Brazilian Wax by any other name...

A Brazilian wax by any other name...

With men’s waxing treatment becoming more and more popular, its often confusing knowing exactly what each of the intimate waxing treatment includes, we read online blogs and articles, magazine reviews and male grooming publications with so many names for these waxing treatments.

With therapists up and down the country all offering their own treatment list and trying to provide their own unique bespoke range of male grooming therapies clients need to understand the difference in the treatments.

One Salons version of a BSC wax may be different to another one....

As therapists we all aim to design a list that offers our clients a selection of treatments to cater for the individual needs from a simple bikini /speedo wax to a full male Hollywood waxing, we know what each treatment entails but often our new clients don’t...

However treatments vary from therapist to therapist and as a client it’s necessary to be clear that you book the treatment you want and that you know the difference in the treatments.

Male intimate waxing treatments are often known by many names; Brazilian waxing, Sunga waxing, Boyzilian waxing, Manscaping, Guyzilian, Brozilian.... there are so many different names used for the waxing procedures, and with trends changing probably many more new names to follow...

As appointments are generally timed and therapists normally know how much time they will require to carry out the treatment that the client has requested, then it’s really important to book the right one, as it may not be possible to extend your appointment time if you booked the wrong waxing and more time is required but not available as your therapist may be fully booked.

As a therapist I offer a flexible tariff for all the more popular waxing treatments, as I believe this offers flexibility for clients, and will ensure that those clients that carry out regular waxing or those clients with partial hair growth pay the lower prices for their treatment.

My treatment list clearly states what’s included within each of the treatments, and this has proven beneficial especially for male intimate waxing treatments. Clients know exactly what area is included and what the treatment is called and how much it will cost, so there will be no nasty surprises when they go to pay.

My most popular male intimate waxing treatment is the Brazilian wax, and most men know this term and generally most of them know exactly what areas of hair removal are included within this treatment.

My website will shortly be updated (November 2010) and as part of the update all the intimate waxing treatments will all be coded so that clients booking a treatment from their workplace etc can be more discrete. Often clients calling from shared offices or from their mobile while they are on the move don’t want the people around them to know they want to mow their lawn!
