How Non Strip Wax Can Provide You With a More Comfortable Form of Hair Removal

Throughout recent years, an increasing number of men have become interested in keeping themselves well-groomed. While a lot of men still would never set foot inside a salon, "manscaping" (also known as the removal of male body hair) is gaining in popularity. While being a furry beast is still preferred by some men (and appreciated by some women), there's nothing wrong with wanting to be smooth all over.

Body hair, at one time, served a purpose; that purpose being to help the body retain heat. Men and women both develop body hair after puberty and this is completely natural. However, today it is no longer a necessary part of survival. Somewhere along the line, human beings began to be offended by unneeded hair growing upon their bodies. Fortunately for these people, there are some relatively simple and pain-free ways to remove it.

Shaving is one of the easiest ways to get rid of body hair. However, there are drawbacks. Stubble grows in quickly after shaving and there is also the threat of razor burn. There are many gadgets on the market to help people rid themselves of body hair, but one of the most sought after approaches is that of body waxing.

There are two basic kinds of waxes for hair removal. One is strip waxing; the other is non-strip (also known as hot-wax). Strip waxing is great at removing large patches of hair on larger parts of the body. With this method, a sticky warm wax is smeared on the area, a paper strip or muslin cloth is applied over it, and the hair is pulled out as the strip is quickly removed.

The non-strip approach is better for removing hair on sensitive parts of the body. There are no  paper strips or cloths applied over this wax; it forms its own strip. There was once a time when hot-wax had to be heated to temperatures that were almost unbearable to the skin. Today, however, this is no longer the case. What was once hot wax is now warm wax, making application much more comfortable.

If you have very course, short hairs, non-strip wax does a great job of grabbing a hold of them. When the wax dries on the body, it shrinks and encapsulates even the tiniest of hairs. It's not as messy as strip-wax, and the procedure for male grooming may end up taking less time. When it comes to pain, having hair yanked out is never comfortable, but many people feel that non-strip wax is more tolerable than strip wax on sensitive skin and therefore a much more suitable method for male intimate waxing treatments.

As part of our commitment to male waxing aftercare we are pleased to now offer an extended range of post wax skincare from Outback Organics. As a male waxing therapist and having been waxed we only ever retail products that we know will work and more importantly that they will do what it says on the tin!!

We endorse our waxing aftercare advice at every opportunity and our aftercare information, retail skincare products and support for all our clients is continually reviewed and updated – pre appointment information is offered, a free aftercare pack for all new clients and post waxing feedback or support for all our clients and in addition to this we also offer a range of retail skincare to support your aftercare regime. It’s our before during and after approach to waxing aftercare advice to ensure that our clients get the best skincare advice to achieve the results.

We also recognise that some clients may prefer high street alternatives and we are happy to suggest products that may offer similar aftercare benefits.

So we are pleased to be offering the new products from Outback Organics. These will include a scrub which is great for using on the body and the face, an ingrown hair serum for clients that suffer with ingrown hairs and “Bush Balm” an intense moisturiser which is a great aftercare product for the intimate waxing treatments. These are in addition to the range we currently offer which includes the Tea Tree skin wash and the Tea Tree hand and body lotion and now we are also happy to offer these products in 100ml as well as the larger 250ml options so it’s the perfect travel size and will fit nicely into your wash bag.... so guys no more excuses its aftercare on the go!!

Bush Balm has been designed as an intensive post wax moisturising balm. This balm is amazing – it’s so fast and you really can see the benefit - when applied directly after waxing you can see the skin settle and the redness disappear within minutes. Bush Balm contains bioactive Aloe, Allantoin and Frankincense extract these will soothe the skin after the initial waxing treatment with added Shea butter and Macadamia oil which deeply moisturise and nourish the skin. In simple terms Allantoin is moisturizing and keratolytic; meaning that it causes keratin in the skin to soften and is great for soothing and healing the skin. Frankincense is an anti inflammatory and combined with the cooling effects of Aloe and the moisturising benefits of Shea butter and Macadamia oils it all adds up to create a really intensive moisturiser which will work wonders for aftercare for the more sensitive areas such as the face and intimate areas. We shall be using the Bush Balm as a post wax treatment directly after all our male intimate waxing treatments so you can see the amazing benefits yourself and will also is available to purchase for home use.

More information will follow on the new after waxing scrub and the serum for treatment of ingrown hairs and an update on the changes to our free aftercare pack supplied for all our new customers.

When the Classic BSC wax becomes the new CSC wax..

As part of our male waxing service we offer an extensive range of male intimate waxing treatment and these include the popular male Brazilian wax , male Hollywood wax and of course the classic BSC wax ( back sack and crack wax).

Traditionally the BSC wax only includes the lower back area as well as the intimate areas however at London Male Waxing we include a full back wax and the choice of a male Brazilian or Hollywood wax and find this combines two popular waxing treatments with a flexible pricing tariff so offers better value for money.

More recently there has been an increase in the number of clients having male intimate waxing treatments and a chest wax at the same time so we decided that we would offer this combination as part of our male intimate waxing treatment list.

So the new CSC wax is now available and it includes a full chest wax and the choice of a male Brazilian or male Hollywood waxing treatment.

With our flexible pricing tariff it means our clients decide how much or how little they wish to include, some clients prefer all the hair removed some don’t.. The choice is yours and at your pre wax consultation you have the opportunity to clarify exactly what you do want.

So to keep things simple we charge the same price so if its a BSC or a CSC they are both priced at £65.00 - £75.00.

Male Brazilian Waxing Variations

Male Brazilian Waxing and the  Treatment Variations Available

As male Brazilian waxing is becoming more and more popular there are so many variations of these treatments that often clients don’t know what they are booking!! Names vary so much from therapist to therapist but most salons/therapists offer clear definitions on their websites as to what is included within each one. If in doubt just tell me exactly which areas are to be included and I can tell you which treatment you require. I confirm all my bookings by text and include the cost as to avoid any confusion and all my treatments are timed so it also ensures I set enough time aside for your individual treatment.

With all my popular waxing treatments I have a flexible pricing tariff and this offers clients a fairer pricing structure. All clients vary in the amount of hair removal and for my clients that carry our regular waxing (every 4-6 weeks) then I always charge the lower price for the waxing treatment the lower price also applies to clients with partial hair growth or clients who have maintained their male waxing treatment.

For male intimate waxing treatments I offer a range of treatments which seems to cater for most of my clients requirements. The more popular treatment is the male Brazilian wax or the BSC wax. The BSC (back sack and crack wax) is a classic waxing treatment and various salons/therapists offer this. More often the BSC wax only includes the lower back area, crack, butt and the penis and scrotum area – but the BSC wax I have on my list actually includes a full back and shoulder wax and not just the lower back and is priced to include this.

My website has codes for all my intimate waxing treatments so if you are calling from your office and want to be a little discrete you can book your treatment without your friends or colleagues knowing all your business!!

Often the more hirsute men prefer their intimate waxing treatments to look a little less obvious and often don’t want to remove hair on the butt cheeks or the pubic mound and often prefer a sack and crack wax, this removes only the hair in the inside of the butt the scrotum and the penis. Whereas men with less body hair tend to go with the a male Brazilian or a male Hollywood waxing, which can remove the hair on the butt cheeks as well as the pubic hair being removed or waxed into a landing strip on the front.

My prices for my male intimate waxing treatments are all listed on the website and as the standard Sac and Crack wax is very popular I shall be adding this to my treatment list in the next few weeks:

Male Sac and Crack wax (butt crack, scrotum and penis) £40.00 - £45.00

The Difference Between Strip Waxing and Non Strip Waxing Methods

I often get calls from new clients asking the difference between strip and non strip waxing methods and which method of waxing is best suited to the male intimate waxing treatments such as the male Brazilian wax or the classic BSC wax (back sack and crack wax).

Strip waxing methods are great for general male body waxing – back, legs arms and the chest etc and the method involves the application of a warm wax using a spatula and then some strips of paper or fabric are applied to the area and rubbed firmly so that the wax will adhere to the strip and once removed the hair will be removed with the strip.

Non strip waxing methods are great for the intimate waxing treatments and the more sensitive areas like underarms, some parts of the chest, the neck and throat and all the face waxing (brows, ears and nostril waxing).Wax the texture of honey is applied directly to the hair and as it sets it will shrink wrap the hair and will be much easier to remove in the more sensitive areas. No strips are used with this wax hence the term non strip waxing, although across the industry this method can also be known as “hot wax” or “Brazilian wax”.

There are therapists who prefer to work with their own methods of waxing and will achieve the end result. For me I much prefer to use non strip waxing methods for male intimate waxing treatments as I find this the most comfortable and the most painless method of waxing.

As a customer I have experienced both methods and since having it carried out with non strip waxing methods I would never have it done any other way. The skin is sensitive in these areas and I find male intimate waxing with strip wax very very unpleasant... one word sums it up... ouch!!... This is my opinion and one shared by a lot of my customers who have also experienced both methods.

I only use Perron Rigot waxes and they are one of the best waxes on the market and I also use their hypoallergenic range to offer the best quality waxing with minimum reaction on the skin.

So guys in answer to all those queries I only use non strip waxing methods for my male Brazilians, Hollywood’s and back sack and crack waxes.. I hope this clarifies the difference in the methods

Male Waxing Summer Appointments

Hopefully a long hot summer is just around the corner and after that bleak winter it’s really great to see blue skies and feel the sun on your face again...

So guys it’s now time to start your male waxing maintenance programme so you are ready for those beach holidays and sunbathing sessions....

Regular waxing helps to keep the area hair free for longer, clean and smooth the best way to show off all your hard work at the gym - combined with your regime of exfoliation and moisturising you can have the perfect male torso for your holiday – smooth soft and hair free!

The most popular waxing treatment is always the male back wax with various options within that. However at this time of year I always see an increase in the number of chest waxing treatments, full body waxing treatments and men’s leg waxing treatments as we prepare to shed the winter wardrobe and get the shorts, t shirts and flip flops all dusted down!!

During the summer months it is much busier for waxing so I strongly recommend booking your appointment in advance to guarantee that you get an appointment time that suits you best. Often on a daily basis there are no available appointments and certainly all the peak appointment slots are generally all pre-booked (5.00pm-8.00pm) so call or email me to arrange your waxing appointment in preparation for your holiday. I do offer earlier appointments and I also have several late nights so that I can offer greater flexibility for my clients with appointment options.

For all my clients I have a range of really great waxing aftercare products to help maintain your freshly waxed skin and to keep the area smooth clean and looking great, these products include an excellent tea tree based skin wash, a tea tree body lotion and the Japanese style wash cloth – three essentials to offer you the best in male waxing aftercare.

Prices of all my retail products can be found at  www.malegroomingstudio.com  also check out my FAQ section which is really useful for virgin waxers and often answers all those questions you are not sure about.

Look forward to seeing you all soon...

Jack

Why I Use Perron Rigot Waxes For All My Male Waxing Treatments

When I was looking at developing my male grooming business after my return to London having lived in Crete for several years, I wanted to provide a male grooming service that offered a range of treatments and wanted to use quality products for all these treatments.

For my male waxing treatments I was introduced to Perron Rigot and started to use the product range. I looked at the various options of waxes provided and I tried several different ones to see which worked best for me and for the needs of my clients. Perron Rigot is one of the more expensive products but I do believe you get what you pay for in terms of quality. I had tested some waxes from other suppliers and whilst these were often okay, I found that Perron Rigot was so much easier to work with and the results were much better. I can speed wax with these waxes and apply a lot of wax to areas in one hit and then remove using strips, I often found in my trials that some other waxes set too quickly so I could not work the same way.

I use the Cristal Ocean wax as my strip wax, it’s a great wax, it is hypoallergenic it works really well for clients with sensitive skin and its rosin free, fragrance free, goes on really thinly and it removes the hair with less trauma. My clients often comment on how more quickly their skin settles after the waxing treatments. Cristal Ocean also comes in a roller cartridge wax in the hypoallergenic range called Cristal Ice. I often prefer to use rollers for male leg waxing treatments. I have tried other strip waxes from Perron Rigot and whilst they were good waxes, Cristal Ocean is the one I prefer and I have decided to use this for all my strip waxing treatments.

Euroblonde, the name speaks for itself it’s a well known and respected non strip wax. Many salons and therapists use this and on the forums used by therapists it’s often highly recommended. I use Euroblonde for my entire non strip waxing treatments including male intimate waxing treatments, face waxing and the delicate areas like underarms. I will use this when I wax parts of the male chest. It goes on well, sets quickly, grips the hair and leaves a smooth finish, exactly what we want. I also use another non strip wax and often this will be Pure, which is their new hypoallergenic wax and like Cristal Ocean, it is really good for those clients with very sensitive skin types.

Their pre and post waxing product ranges are also superior and I use these in all my male waxing treatments. The jasmine oil is a light mineral oil when used before the waxing it provides a more comfortable waxing experience and then applied at the end of the waxing it removes any residual wax whilst moisturising the skin. When applied with basic massage, it makes the difference between just a waxing and a waxing treatment. I also use the Perron Rigot refreshing gel after the male waxing treatments, it contains mimosa leaf and honey so it soothes and cools the skin after the treatments.

When I was in Crete I worked at a luxury spa which had the highest standards for the treatments we provided and I wanted to set up my business using quality products with a high level of customer service. I set up a really nice treatment room from my home, its spacious, clean and bright and laid out professionally with standards that equal any spa or salon.

By using Perron Rigot waxes gives clients an assurance of a quality waxing treatment. My waxing treatment list provides a range of male body waxing treatments, with a flexible tariff so I can ensure value for money treatment - those clients who have regular waxing and clients with partial hair growth often pay the lower pricing tariff.

There are so many male waxing therapists and salons that offer these treatments and as a consumer it is worth looking at the product range they use, the methods they apply and if these methods will offer the customer the best possible waxing experience.... It might be better to pay a little bit more to get the best service. After all often when we shop we apply the same rules - It’s the difference between the budget meat pie and the luxury steak pie!!

The Male Basic Back Waxing Treatment

Male Back Waxing Treatment – The New Basic Back Wax

As part of my male waxing service my most popular male body waxing treatment is the men’s back wax.

Within this I provide a range of back waxing options; a full back wax is generally the most popular and this includes the full back, shoulders, neck and the hair on the top of the arms.

Some guys book an upper or a lower back wax at times and this is generally an add on waxing treatment when clients are having a chest wax etc.

I have a few clients who really only need a basic male back wax treatment, which means that they don’t need any hair removed from the shoulders, arms or the neck.

As I offer a flexible tariff with all my more popular male waxing treatments I have now added a Male Basic Back Wax to my treatment list, it is priced at £25.00 and will include the upper and lower back only, any clients that require the other parts of the back waxed should book the full back wax.

All the back waxing options and prices are all listed on my website

Why a Flexible Pricing Tariff Works Better For Male Waxing Treatments

Why a Flexible Pricing Tariff Works Better For Male Waxing Treatments

As a therapist I see many clients for male waxing treatments and these clients are a variety of shapes, sizes, some male clients have a little bit of hair to be removed and for some, it’s a bit like a forest!!.. Also there are those clients that maintain their hair removal treatment on a regular programme so it’s finer hair follicles and much easier and quicker to remove.

In my opinion I find that one price does not fit all and that having a flexible pricing tariff offers male waxing clients a better value for money. More hair removal often equals more products and more preparation time and less hair equals fewer products and less time so for me it makes sense to reflect this in your price list.

On my most popular male waxing treatments, this approach seems to work and I find that clients are generally much happier with this than having a fixed price tariff. There are salons and therapists that agree with this pricing structure and there are some that don’t. With a fixed pricing tariff, from the therapists point it probably balances out, using more product and time on some and less on others.

With the flexible pricing tariff it allows you to offer a more bespoke waxing service. For example, male back waxing is often one of the most popular male grooming treatments and a lot of therapists now offer clients several options. I offer a range of male back waxing options. My full back wax allows clients to include their neck hair, shoulders the front as well as the back and tops of the arms. The hair can be blended to create a more natural line. With the flexible tariff they may ask for hair to be removed to the elbow, or may require some hair removed from the front of the neck, so the flexibility allows for me to provide the service they want and to charge them accordingly.

I am extending my range of back waxing treatments to include a basic back wax and this will be for those clients who only require the upper and lower back wax and who don’t want any hair removed from the neck arms shoulders etc, so they only pay for a basic back wax. This will be added onto my price list shortly.

When a new client books a male waxing appointment, I confirm the booking but state that the flexible tariff will apply, and once I have carried out the consultation with the client and agreed exactly what is to be included, the amount of hair and preparation involved then I will confirm the actual cost.

The other benefit of course is that clients know that they will not be charged above a certain amount, so they can arrive in the knowledge that their treatment will not exceed the upper price limit quoted for that particular treatment. On average most clients fall into the lower to middle price range with only a very few clients hitting the higher price.

My full back wax treatment is charged between £30-40 , and my new basic back wax will be offered at £25.00 . Details of my back waxes ( and all my othe popular male waxing treatments) are all listed on my website.

Male Hair Removal Treatments And What May Work Best

When a man would like to seek help for unwanted follicles, there are several things that can be tried. Male hair removal treatments could include a few different treatment options. There is laser removal, waxing and sugaring and electrolysis. These procedures may each have their own advantages to using them. A guy who has too much hair on the face, neck, chest or back, may choose to take care of it on a regular basis. Professional procedures at clinics and salons can assist a person with their excessive issue and help them appear furry free in all the right areas.

Laser procedures involve placing a beam of light at the follicle. Over time, the laser beam ends up killing the root. This treatment is effective, however can get costly running a client into the hundreds of pounds. A few sessions may be needed before results are seen for good. The laser works great on certain skin pigmentation and hair color only. The laser could be painful and may change the color of skin if the client has a tanned appearance.

Electrolysis is a form of removal that involves a needle. The needle is used to zap each strand and remove it. The zap feeling could hurt and the procedure may take a while. The length of each session and the number of sessions needed, could cause someone to require many painful sessions.

Waxing is the process of placing a hot wax over the hairy area. Using a cloth or paper strip, the therapist will place the strip onto the hot wax and press firmly down. Once the strip has covered the entire area of wax, the strip is pulled in the opposite direction of growth to remove the hair and the root.

When someone chooses waxing over other procedures there are some good reasons. This method does not have to be done all the time, each session will result in weeks of smooth and hairless skin. With each appointment the hair becomes weaker and less noticeable over time.

There are also no side effects with the wax on the skin. A person will have a slight reddish appearance in the area for a few minutes, but with creams and lotions the redness disappears quickly.

Sugaring involves the same process as waxing, only instead of wax, there is a sugar paste that is used. Some people may find that the wax can pin point easier than the sugar base. The more accurate that the strips can be when taking up strands and roots, the less times it will have to be done.

Male hair removal treatments can come in many forms and types. A person may try a few different kinds of methods before they decide on which one they like the best. It is always a good idea to research each idea first to see if the skin and hair color make a good candidate for the procedure. Looking into side effects could also be a great plan. Waxing is a procedure that removes all of the growth leaving a smooth and glowing appearance. The results of waxing are long lasting and will not cause damage to the skin.

Male Back Waxing - What's Included In Your Treatment

Male Back Waxing – What’s included within your back waxing treatment.

As both a consumer of male back waxing treatments and a male waxing therapist I have experienced so many variations of a men’s back wax treatment across London.

I have had back waxing that never included the shoulders, waxing that did not include the hair on the back of the neck, and I have also had waxing where the top of the arms have not been included...

So as a waxing therapist I offer my male back waxing treatment with a more bespoke or tailored option and I find these suits the needs of most of my clients.

I find that like me most men want to include the shoulders the neck and the arms within their treatment, so I have a flexible tariff within my treatment list (this is for most of my waxing treatments not just the back wax) .

Waxing is very much an individual thing and no two clients are ever the same, some men have loads of body hair and the treatment takes longer and more waxing is required, and then there are those clients who don’t have very much body hair, or those clients who carry out regular maintenance waxing and the hair growth is kept to the minimum. For these very reasons I find that a flexible pricing option gives the fairest price, and this seems too work.

In my opinion it certainly is an industry where one price does not fit all!!...

My back waxing treatment involves a consultation to agree exactly which areas you want waxed, if it’s to include the neck shoulders arms etc. Then I will trim any excess hair prior to the waxing (only if the hair is very long, and I prefer to trim rather than the clients as i know the best length required). When I wax the back I often get my clients to lay on their sides so I can create a more natural line between the chest and the back, and most of us men have a few strays hairs that are neither chest or back, and often best removed. I also get my clients to sit up so I can wax the shoulders and the neck so again creating a natural line and I always check with clients how they want their shoulders and arm hair waxed, it really is a very individual thing.

I carry out my waxing with a range of hypoallergenic waxes from Perron Rigot, and the range includes the pre and post cleansing and moisturising. I only use Perron Rigot waxes, they are the one of the best waxes on the market, and they offer an excellent waxing experience with minimum trauma on the skin.

One of my favourite products from Perron Rigot is their Jasmine oil, it’s a refined mineral oil that I use at the beginning as a barrier so that the wax clings to the hair and not the skin, it really makes a big difference on the skin, talc used to be used, but it’s really a very old fashioned way of waxing and most of the waxing companies now offer a range of oils to use.. I also use the oil at the end of the treatment as it removes any residual waxes left after the treatment and soothes and moisturises the skin.

At the end of my waxing treatments I use a natural tea tree moisturiser to soothe the skin.

My aftercare pack includes a written good practice sheet for my clients, a nylon disposable exfoliating glove to get them started, some Thalgo body scrub and a sample of a tea tree moisturiser. Often with new clients men don’t know how they should maintain their skin after waxing, so I explain this as we go along, and when they leave they know the best ways to look after their new freshly waxed skin. Often when I have had waxing I have never had any aftercare advice given to me, so I realise the importance of this and ensure all my clients leave with a good understanding.. Its then up to them if they decide to follow the guidelines or not!!...
