Male Chest Waxing Advice

With the recent surge of warmer weather more and more guys are following the trend to wax their chests either as a pre holiday waxing treatment or as part of a regular male grooming regime and in the hope that even here in good old blighty they will get the opportunity to sunbathe!

We want to explain the chest waxing treatment, offer pre waxing advice and also aftercare guidelines and look at some of the best ways to avoid a break out...

Chest hair is generally fairly deep rooted hair, close to the heart so nice strong hair with a good rich blood supply!! Often chest waxing is seen as a more uncomfortable male waxing treatment as opposed to the back waxing or other male body waxing, but it can be fairly painless if it’s carried out properly.

It’s not uncommon for virgin waxers to have an initial reaction after their first chest wax, with small bumps and redness, this can be normal for a lot of guys who have never waxed before and generally within a few days the chest settles down again. I find that clients who take anti histamine on their way of their waxing and for a few days after seem to have very little reaction. We have a lot of clients who wax and most of these clients find that the anti histamine has helped but we always remind clients that they need to check that it’s okay for them to take anti histamine before they do as we only recommend these as a way of preventing the reaction on the skin.

We generally trim back body hair if it’s really long before I begin any waxing and then cleanse the skin before applying a small amount of pre waxing oil, the oil allows the wax to cling to the hair and not to the skin and this makes the hair removal so much more comfortable.

For most of our male chest waxing treatments we use two waxing methods, we apply non strip waxes on certain areas and then we also use strip waxes on other parts. We find that some areas can be more sensitive so the non strip waxes work better in those parts.  We do also offer a full chest and abs wax with non strip wax for the whole area as some clients prefer this method of waxing. Our waxing price list has all these treatments listed.

The strip wax used is Cristal Ocean by Perron Rigot this is a hypoallergenic wax so this will minimise the reaction on the skin. We do not use any roller waxing method for any of my waxing treatments as we find that it can drag on the hair and can be very uncomfortable for the client so I don’t use them.

At the end of the wax, after we have used Jasmine oil and cleansers, we then apply a suitable after waxing moisturiser to soothe the chest area.

As with all waxing procedures clients need to avoid touching the area and to keep the skin clean and cool. If clients are coming straight from work to their appointment it’s often best if they can bring a clean cotton loose fitting t-shirt to change into at the end of the treatment.

Male back waxing - back to basics!

As part of our male waxing service the most popular male body waxing treatment is the men’s back wax.

Within this we provide a range of options; a full back is generally the most popular of these treatment and this includes the back, shoulders, neck and the hair on the top of the arms.

Some guys book an upper or a lower back wax at times, this is generally an add on waxing treatment when clients are having a chest wax etc.

We do have a few clients who really only need a basic wax treatment, which means that they don’t need and hair removed from the shoulder arms neck.

So our male waxing treatments include:

GB1 – The basic back wax, no shoulders or neck is included within this male waxing treatment.

GB2- This is the most popular waxing treatment we offer. It includes a full back and shoulder wax and hair is blended on the tops of the arms and also on the front of the shoulders for a more natural look.

GB3 -     Includes exactly the same back wax as the GB2 with the addition of having the hair of the neck/hairline removed.

GB4 – This is the full Monty of the waxes! – This back wax includes the same as the GB3 (back, neck and shoulders) and the half arm wax (down to the elbow).

So booking the appropriate back waxing treatment is easy and with a variety of options it means that you only pay for the wax that suits you.

Waxing aftercare is really important and we offer all new clients a great free aftercare pack and there are loads of good post waxing aftercare advice on our blog pages to help with your maintenance routine We slso offer manscaping treatments for clients who dont want it waxed off and want to reduce the hair on areas like the chest. Male body hair removal - give us a little something too work with

Give us something to work with!

We often get new clients who are “Virgin Waxers” coming to us for their first male waxing treatment, which is great but often these guys have been previously removing their body hair at home using other methods like shaving, trimming  or hair removal creams such as Veet.

To enable us to give you the best waxing service and to effectively remove the body hair completely then you need to ensure that it’s long enough in the first place.

Ideally it should be 5/6 mm in length so that the wax can grip the hairs enough to remove it from the root. Trying to remove body hair that’s too short is generally much more uncomfortable and will often result in snapped hairs which will give a prickly regrowth within a few days. If you can’t measure it visualise a grain of long grain rice!

So it pays to be a bit patient and allow enough time between the hair removal episodes to get the best results.

Allow a four week gap if you have been shaving the area or using hair removal creams and allow at least three weeks between waxing (ideally we prefer a 4-5 week gap between waxing appointments).

During the summer months we have seen lots of new clients, which is absolutely great, for back waxing treatments who have been turning up with a week’s hair growth and expecting a smooth clean wax, this is usually not possible. So it really is a case of allowing enough time for the hair to grow back to a length that’s suitable.  Body hair that has repeatedly been shaved is generally coarse and very strong so trying to wax this when its short will be very uncomfortable especially if it’s for a male intimate wax treatment such as a male Brazilian wax or a male Hollywood wax and of course if this your first introduction to waxing to will probably think that waxing is too painful and you will run back to the razor!

Back waxing, chest waxing and male Brazilian waxing are the most popular treatments we provide and if the hair is the correct length we can offer a good fairly painless waxing treatment, using the best waxes on the market and using good waxing techniques.

Our approach to waxing is simple; its wax on and then waxed off using the best products available. We are male waxing experts and provide a range of male grooming treatments.
